Tim Nees The Risk of Being Nowhere

The Risk of Being Nowhere at Christchurch Art Gallery

The Risk of Being Nowhere is the title of a talk I gave on 15 February 2017 to the Friends of the Christchurch Art Gallery.

The talk was about how architecture communicates and how architects need to build an awareness of the specific quality of their voice, together with the characteristics of place, and of how an awareness of tone and a sensitivity to place can inform architecture and strengthen our associations. Our connections with, and understandings of, the many layers of meaning that can be integrated throughout a building and across a city and in the landscape. Why being somewhere means more than being nowhere.
