From NZIA Awards text: Battened down on Wellington's wild south coast, this house uses the familiar language of the New Zealand bach to express a weatherbeaten and wholly delightful personality. This house closes and 'promenade' of baches around Breaker Bay, and is articulated as a series of forms scattered down a steep hillside. In using a palette of eclectic materials, the house is a bricolage of objects trouves, which also contribute to the sense of randomness and experimentation which are among the central strengths of this richly textured and quite remarkable seaside home.
